Giles hardy

Giles is a founding Director of ArborCarbon and one of Australia’s leading forest pathologists. For more than 25 years he has advanced understanding of how plant diseases — particularly Phytophthora dieback — impact natural and managed ecosystems across the world.

As a researcher based at Murdoch University, Giles has built collaborations spanning eco-hydrology, entomology, molecular plant pathology, soil health, and restoration ecology. His expertise is sought internationally for projects that require both scientific depth and practical solutions to protect biodiversity and ecosystem function.

At ArborCarbon, Giles provides scientific leadership and strategic direction, ensuring the company’s technologies and methodologies are grounded in world-class research. His work has helped governments, land managers, and industries move from reactive responses to proactive management, building healthier, more resilient landscapes for the long term.

ArborCarbon acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.
